KEEPING UP

A Lesson from a Sister 🧕☪️

Recently, the news of a 15-year-old Muslim sister's passing touched my heart, prompting me to reflect on the impact of the content we share online.

Initially, I was concerned when I heard about her death because she was a TikToker. I was worried regarding the content of her posts—were they infused with music, beauty exposure, and other elements that might not align with our values as Muslims?

However,

I was relieved upon discovering that her content centered around Islam.

What's even more amazing is the timing of her passing—on a Friday, in the masjid, during salah, and in sujood. SubhanAllah!

💭 Crucial Reflection 💭

What we share online matters. Our sister's story should inspire us to be mindful of our digital footprint and the impact it can have on our lives and the lives of those around us.

Here are some things to avoid posting online, even if it's a struggle we're actively working on for the sake of Allah (SWT):

  • Makeup

  • Awrah showing

  • Music

  • Tabarruj

  • Gossip

Remember, every post is an opportunity to earn rewards or accumulate sins. Let's be mindful of our choices and strive to create a halal online presence.

UNVEILING HISTORY

Unraveling the Mystery of Hidden Women's Salons in Nablus 💇‍♀️🔍

In the busy streets of Nablus, where every corner has a men's hair salon, an intriguing mystery unfolds. Why are women's hair salons so difficult to find?

In 2015, David Gareber, an anarchist activist, ventured into the West Bank and shared his observations regarding this mystery. His revelation took a chilling turn as he delved into the historical context.

“During the ‘80s, Israeli intelligence agents began taking advantage of their existence to spike the sweet tea with knock-out drugs, and take nude pictures of women so as to blackmail their husbands into turning collaborators or informants. So now women’s salons exist, but they’re not visible from the street, and women no longer take tea from strangers.”

David Gareber

This isn't a tale spun from imagination; it's a bitter reality. Confessions from those who perpetrated these acts stand as evidence.

A Palestinian film, "Huda's Salon," brings this sinister narrative to life, weaving a plot around the atrocities that forced women into the shadows.
