KEEPING UP

Change at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 🦃🍁

Dania Darwish, the dynamic force behind the scenes, orchestrated a rally at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. She's not just your average activist; she's the co-founder and executive director of the Asiyah Women's Center, the first Muslim women’s emergency center in New York City! Advocating for justice and making a difference is second nature to her.

🔥 Dania’s Mission 🔥

Dania utilized the power of social media, specifically TikTok, to gather hundreds -if not thousands - to join her in shedding light on the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Her call to action was clear: show up at 5 am, protest, and be a voice for those who are silenced.

Dania went above and beyond, scouting the parade route in advance and providing a detailed walk through for protesters to make the biggest impact.

🛑 Protesters vs McDonalds 🛑

As the parade unfolded, protesters gathered in front of McDonald's marching band, demanding a ceasefire. Some took bold measures, like gluing their hands to the ground on 6th Avenue, leading to intense encounters with the police.

Behind the scenes, the parade's cameramen and producers scrambled, navigating through the chaos to steer clear of both protestors and Palestinian flags.

Approximately 30 protestors were arrested, but Darwish emphasized the bigger picture. Instead of accepting jail support funds, she's collaborating with Human Appeal in Gaza.

Through her campaign on LaunchGood, they aim to deliver clean water to over 60,000 people in Gaza. You can contribute to this impactful initiative at launchgood.com/help4gaza!
